Robin And The Giant Announce "Tiny Dancer" Scholarship In Memory Of Giant's Sister

Robin And The Giant have announced the creation of the "Doreen W. Conklin Tiny Dancer Memorial Scholarship" to pay for a full year tuition for two young dance students in Marion County, Florida.

Ocala, FL (PRWEB) March 26, 2009 - Recording duo and radio personalities Robin And The Giant, whose real names are Robin MacBlane and Larry Whitler, have announced plans to offer two scholarships to students studying dance at Victoria's School of Dance in Dunnellon, Florida. The scholarship is named in memory of Whitler's sister, Doreen Conklin, who passed away at the age of 46 on December 15th 2008 after losing a long fought battle against Hepatitis C.

Whitler explains, "Doreen had dreams when she was a little girl of growing up and becoming one of the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. We moved from New York to Rainbow Lakes Estates in the Dunnellon area in 1972. Doreen was nine years old at the time and studied dance with a retired dance instructor in Rainbow Lakes Estates. Then we grew up and life happened and Doreen was never able to realize her dream."

The memorial scholarship will pay for tuition and costume fees for one year for one student in the 3 to 5-year-old class and another student in the 6-year-old and older class. The students will be selected by the school and the scholarships will be awarded on August 3, 2009. The date was chosen by Robin And The Giant because Doreen Conklin's birthday was August 3rd.

A portion of the sales of all Robin And The Giant and Larry Whitler CDs and MP3 downloads will fund the scholarships along with the other charities supported and endorsed by the duo.
